Local Manchester Fitters of 'Fake Grass'

A Manchester lawn has a hard life: heavy clay, shade, wet winters and plenty of foot traffic. Artificial grass gives you a lawn that stays green and usable all year, with no mowing, feeding or muddy patches by the back door.

The finish you see depends on the base you don't. We dig out, build a compacted stone sub-base, add a fine laying course and fix the edges firmly, so the grass stays flat and rain drains straight through.

We fit artificial grass across Greater Manchester, and the visit and quote are free.

Benefits of Artificial Grass in Manchester

Virtually Maintenance Free

No mowing, watering, feeding or top dressing. An occasional brush keeps the pile upright.

Green Through the Winter

It looks the same in January as it does in June, whatever the weather does.

Drains Freely

Water passes through the backing into the stone base, so the lawn is usable soon after rain.

Hard Wearing for Play

Stands up to games, garden furniture and busy family use without bald or muddy patches.

Easy to Clean

Hose it down, or use a garden vacuum or leaf blower when it's dry.

Good With Pets

Dogs can't dig muddy holes in it, and the surface can be rinsed off whenever needed.

A compacted stone base gives a firm, free-draining foundation.

Tight, Hidden Joins

Seams are cut carefully and joined with the pile running the same way.

Fully Insured

Every installation is carried out by our fully insured team.

Free Design Ideas

We can suggest shapes and edging to suit the rest of the garden.

Pricing

What Affects the Cost of Artificial Grass

Artificial grass is priced after a free visit, because the groundwork matters as much as the grass. The main factors are:

  • The size and shape of the lawn
  • The grass chosen, including pile height and density
  • How much digging out and spoil removal is needed
  • Edging type and any curves or cut-outs
  • Access to the garden for materials and waste

How we carry out the work

How We Lay Artificial Grass

No pressure at any stage, and nothing is booked until you have the price in writing.

Dig Out

We strip the existing lawn and dig out to the right depth, taking the spoil away so the new surface finishes at the right level.

Edge and Build the Base

Firm edging goes in, then a crushed-stone sub-base is laid and compacted in layers so it won't sink or rut.

Lay the Grass

A fine laying course is screeded level and a weed membrane laid, then the grass is rolled out with the pile all running the same way.

Join, Fix and Brush

Seams are taped and glued, edges trimmed and fixed, and kiln-dried sand is brushed in to support the pile.

Artificial Grass Questions

Can artificial grass be laid on top of my existing lawn?

We don't recommend it. Laying straight onto soil or old turf leads to dips, poor drainage and weeds pushing through. Digging out and building a proper sub-base is what gives a flat, lasting finish.

Will water sit on the surface?

Not if the base is right. Artificial grass has a perforated backing, so rain drains through into the free-draining stone base underneath.

Is artificial grass suitable for dogs?

Yes. It's hard wearing and dogs can't dig it up. Mess can be picked up as normal and the area hosed down to keep it fresh.

Does artificial grass need any care?

Very little. Brush it now and then to lift the pile, clear leaves before they rot down and rinse it if needed. There is no mowing, feeding or watering.

Can you lay artificial grass on concrete or an old patio?

Often, yes, as long as the surface drains. A foam underlay is usually added for a softer feel. We'll check the existing surface at the quote visit.
